The 2020 McLaren Speedtail is a rare example of hypercar excellence. What’s new for 2020?

McLaren’s 2020 model year will see the Speedtail join the McLaren lineup.

Pricing and Which One To Buy

Speedtail comes with all the modern conveniences. You can forget about exterior mirrors. The Speedtail is equipped with two high-definition digital cameras. These discreetly glide out from the doors when the start button is pressed. McLaren claims that the cameras are more aerodynamic and offer wider views than exterior mirrors. The cabin has two screens that display the camera feed, one on each side of the instrument panel. The carbon fiber seat was inspired by McLaren F1’s legendary McLaren F1. The cabin is covered in semi-aniline and lightweight aniline leather. These hides are customizable with unique stitching patterns and a range of colors.

Transmission, Engine, and Performance

This twin-turbocharged, 4.0-liter V-8 engine and an electric motor combine forces to produce a total power output of 1035 horsepower. Velocity mode adjusts the car’s powertrain to achieve maximum speed. This standard mode can be used to reduce the car’s height by 1.4 inches. The hypercar’s acceleration abilities are amazing. McLaren claims that the Speedtail can accelerate from a standstill at 186 mph to 0 in 12.8 seconds. This makes it faster than the McLaren P1 which ran that race in 16.5 seconds.

Fuel Economy and Real World MPG

For the 2020 Speedtail, fuel-economy numbers have not been released.

Interior, Comfort, & Cargo

The Speedtail’s interior is accessible through the power-operated, dihedral doors. This hypercar is similar to the McLaren F1, with the driver’s position in the middle of the cockpit. It has a special leather exterior that allows it to be slid into. The leather finish helps to keep you in place when the car is moving. An electrochromatic strip at the top of windshield blocks sunrays. Scandinavian leather is used to adorn the dashboard and passenger seats. These hides can be customized by owners using digital quilting and unique embossed or debossed patterns. Many of the controls for the car, such as the ones used to turn the engine on and off and the windows and doors opening and closing, are located in panels above the driver’s heads. The controls and switches of the car are made from polished, hand-brushed aluminum. McLaren has not revealed the Speedtail’s cargo volume, but there are two storage areas: the nose or the tail. You can order a bespoke luggage set to match the interior of the hypercar.

Connectivity and Infotainment

McLaren has fitted the Speedtail with touchscreens and high-definition displays. These interfaces are essential for most settings as buttons and switches are almost non-existent.
